My tech said that the restoration work on the Metropolitan instrument was poorly done. I have an LP recording of the Metropolitan instrument of works by Lodovico Giustini who was alleged to be the first composer to write for the piano.

So basically it's a way to double down on your investments in a single stock. Nvidia goes up... you earn twice as much (I'm over simplifying), but when it goes down, you lose twice as fast. It's for those with a high risk desire... no thank you. I used to be more involved with stock trading (and did pretty well... by getting lucky with timing), but I have long since moved back to just investing in basically the S&P index. Nearly impossible to beat that over the long term. And the article mentions YOLO... I feel like those who use that don't understand the real meaning of it, or in other words, YODO, too.

Always liked early flights. They usually leave on time. Kinda.

Apparently, Nefertiti and Alexander DID have children and I’m their descendant, since my right foot is Egyptian and my left foot is Greek.

I disagree. I was assured that Jill Biden is an amazing doctor. No way could she be President of the Year too! Ballot Counters? Yep.

@George-K said in The 25 Most Obnoxious Quotes of 2024: I noticed that - perhaps there's a reason, LOL? Culturcidal by John Hawkins No outrage bait. No namecalling. Just content for conservatives who think our country doesn't get fixed without fixing the culture. I think the reason may be hidden somewhere in amongst the self-congratulation and unintentional irony.

Last one done was my granddaughter. The eye exam was done at an America's Best shop (I got the twofer special for her). My wife is a retired opthalmic tech and she knows more about this than I do. GD was dilated, the tech checked the pressure, and took the photos of the retina and optic nerve, and did an auto refraction. GD then had a zoom(?) meeting with an optometrist. The tech put the readings from the auto refraction into a foreopter and the optom had GD look through it, while he did the "better or worse" dance. IIRC, the foreopter had a wire running into it, because the optom was controlling lens selection remotely. The optometrist reviewed the photos, signed off no noted problems and cut the script electronically.
